SMBC Web Platform Product Owner (Remote) in Sacramento, California

The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Although we are part of a larger organization our digital bank team is small, nimble and fast paced. This culture provides an opportunity to think, invent and innovate in a complex financial space. You will work closely with product owners, technology partners, designers, researchers and experience owners to design new customer focused journeys and capabilities.

In this role you will:

Reinvent retail banking. We are building this bank from scratch which means we can leverage new technology and approaches to redefine banking. You will work closely with product managers, technology partners, designers, researchers and experience owners to design new, innovative ways for customers to manage their accounts (e.g.view transactions, update profile information, add beneficiaries, manage communications preferences ) and ensure proper support across all. Constantly challenge the status quo.

Put the customer first. Always look at it from the customer’s point of view. Every experience begins with empathy and empathy begins with listening. Understand them well enough to not only meet their needs but anticipate them.

Leverage the data. As a Product Owner, you will continuously evaluate our customer interactions from pre-market research through existing customer data to always find new ways to improve the customer experience and exceed expectations.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify business challenges and opportunities for improvement using data analytics, as well as customer/colleague feedback and pain points.

  • Maintain a customer-centric view of problems and solutions appropriately balancing the impact to the company’s financial results.

  • Collaborate with cross functional teams (Product, Technology, Risk, Design, Research, etc) to define and deliver requirements that result in market leading account management experiences across all products.

  • Partner with solution architects / technologists to understand and influence the technical approach to meet the desired business and omni-channel customer experience.Work with teams across the organization to provide insight into product design, feature backlog, and delivery roadmap.

  • Drive the execution of user acceptance testing (UAT) activities with support from business and technology team members.

  • Support the development of customer facing account managementcapabilities and experiences across channels including Web, Mobile, Call Center, and Chat.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience

  • Experience: 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner or Business Analyst including:

  • Ability to influence stakeholders with diverse points of view.

  • Practical experience partnering with UX designers, solution architects/technologists, and scrum teams to build Agile products.

  • Experience in diving into the details with the Design team to uncover gaps and provide direction to deliver best-in-class solutions.

  • Experience working in an Agile environment.

  • Effective communicator with excellent written communication skills.

  • Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Experience managing and building user experiences related to financial products (e.g., Checking, Personal loans, Credit Cards or Investment products)

  • Working knowledge of core processors (i.e. FIS, FDR, TSYS)

  • Experience working in a highly regulated environment

  • Experience using JIRA as a testing/tracking tool
