The anticipated salary range for this role is between $100,000.00 and $110,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

Entry-level analyst to assist the Foreign Exchange Sales & Marketing desk covering North American Corporate clients. The candidate will support a team of senior salespeople in marketing FX products and providing clients with solutions which help them meet their risk management goals. Additionally, they will participate in all phases of the client trade life cycle from company research, onboarding, preparation and delivery of marketing materials, pre-trade modeling, live trade execution, and post trade support.

Role Objectives: Delivery

  • Prepare marketing materials on FX markets, macroeconomic developments, and hedging strategies for clients; automate data analysis and creation of visuals (charts, tables, etc.).

  • Develop a deep understanding of macro products with particular focus on FX derivatives.

  • Assist senior salespeople in formulating and marketing trading ideas to clients.

  • Provide trade execution support including pricing, booking, and post-trade requirements.

  • Communicate with clients on operational inquiries and provide client support when senior marketers are traveling.

  • Reconcile daily desk activity and prepare weekly P&L reports for internal distribution.

  • Conduct periodic review of client financial statements to understand derivatives activity.

  • Collaborate with Legal, Risk, KYC, and Settlements teams to ensure compliance with statutory regulations as well as internal policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree with distinguished academic track record

  • Recent graduate, or up to 2 years of experience in sales, trading, or similar role.

  • Demonstrated interest in financial markets through extracurricular activities, internships, or work experience.

  • Ability to excel under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and able to synthesize and explain complex concepts.

  • Creative thinker with exceptional problem-solving skills and strong attention to detail.

  • Intellectually curious with desire for continued learning.

  • Strong work ethic with ability to multi-task effectively.

  • Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Quantitative skills or high comfort level with quantitative subjects; proficiency in Python or VBA is beneficial, but not required.
