SMBC VP, Senior Manager - IT Vendor Management (Hybrid in LA or PHX) in Los Angeles, California

The anticipated salary range for this role is between $118,000.00 and $135,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

JOB SUMMARY:

SMBC Manubank is looking for a Technology Vendor Manager with strong vendor management backgrounds, analytical capabilities, and project management skills. The Manager must be an excellent communicator – this person will work cross-functionally every day with internal business units and external vendors.

PRINCIPLE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • This role will be responsible for IT vendor management practices and all IT procurement across hardware, software, and services.

  • Support and maintenance of IT Shared Services team’s Procurement-To-Pay lifecycle (Contract submission and approval, Requisition, Purchase Order, Invoice processing).

  • Lead for IT Contract Management activities. Build monthly procurement and contract management reports.

  • Maintain accurate Asset Repository/ CMDB for all Software and Hardware assets.

  • Track and monitor IT expenditures, ensuring adherence to budgetary guidelines.

  • Meeting with suitable IT vendors to assess their products, inquire about their services, negotiate pricing, and communicate any product or service-related concerns.

  • Implement and maintain an asset management solution for IT hardware and software.

  • Partner with Legal to ensure vendor contracts have proper terms and protections and are compliant with standards and relevant regulations.

  • Work closely with IT leadership to align budgetary decisions with the bank's strategic goals and initiatives.

  • Overseeing the preparation of regular and ad-hoc financial reports for senior management, highlighting key budget variances, trends, and potential risks.

  • Prepare business case (financial/ROI) analysis to quantify and determine the value to the company of a current or potentially new system/application, including cost/benefit estimates, market trends, competitive and risk analysis, industry best practices, and product development timelines.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

Education:

  • Bachelor s degree in Business Management, or Business Administration or related field

  • Master’s degree is a plus

Skills/Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of Information technology experience

  • 3+ years managing vendor relationships. Advanced knowledge of procurement and contract management.

  • Proven ability with corporate buying processes, contract negotiation, vendor relationships

  • Cloud cost management experience

  • Ability to provide evaluation and analysis of unique complex technological contracts.

  • Experience with invoice management tool (Coupa a plus).

  • Familiarity with Apptio or other technology financial management tool.

  • Experience with business analysis and P&L management

  • Strong negotiation skills

  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications

  • The ability to multitask effectively.

  • Strong negotiation, management, and decision-making skills

  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills; able to effectively collaborate with technical and business partners.

  • Financial Industry Experience is a plus.
