The anticipated salary range for this role is between $97,000.00 and $156,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Sr. Infrastructure Engineer is responsible for analyzing, architecting, designing, configuring, maintaining and supporting network infrastructure and application components. This position ensures the infrastructure environment meets design standards and guidelines. This position acts as the Bank’s network architect: identification, investigation and selection of new software and hardware solutions required to implement the technology strategies approved by management. Additionally, this position monitors, evaluates and performs diagnostics on the Bank’s infrastructure, network related backups of configurations, DR systems, and VOIP optimization.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILTIES:

  • Ability to be able to define design architecture vision, roadmap and setting design objectives that align with business demand & also enterprise’s business goals.

  • Maintains a high-level knowledge of all network technology that supports bank operations. This includes a comprehensive understanding of switches, routers, firewalls, and networking protocols such as BGP, TCP/IP, MPLS, QoS, VOIP, and SD-WAN. Stays current on new emerging technologies that may enhance the Bank’s network design and operation.

  • Creates and maintains comprehensive documentation describing the network environment, including network diagrams of existing and all new designs.

  • Participates in and supports disaster recovery procedures and plans for network and application fail over.

  • Analyzes system and application usage and plans for growth or increases in network capacity.

  • Designs and configures complex wireless networking that supports open or secured access and the ability to support voice and video applications.

  • Monitors the Bank’s network to maintain its security, soundness, and availability.

  • Interacts effectively with cross functional senior technical and executive resources.

  • Can scale influence and leadership across a broad array of business use cases and projects.

  • Can comprehend and apply architecture and frameworks to engineering designs and design reviews.

  • Responsible for resolving issues escalated by other support tiers, including cloud and local infrastructure.

  • Creating, overseeing, and testing security measures like access authentication and disaster recovery for the on-prem and cloud environment.

  • Responsible for timely and complete Change Control documentation and delegation of implementation tasks.

  • Be willing to support occasional after-hours and weekend work.

  • Exercises thought leadership and acts as a mentor to other network engineering staff.

POSITION SPECIFICATIONS:

  • 5+ years serving in an Enterprise Network Infrastructure.

  • Proficient in network protocols and technologies, such as TCP/IP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS, SSL, VPN, etc.

  • Proficient in network security principles and tools, such as firewall, IDS, IPS, WAF, etc.

  • 5+ years of experience with multiple Microsoft technologies, including Office365, Exchange, Azure, Entra, Intune, etc.

  • 5+ years of advanced virtualization experience.

  • 5+ years of network design & optimization, including enterprise-grade switches, firewalls & routers.

  • On-prem to Cloud infrastructure migration experience.

  • Extensive experience in one or more cloud-based technologies (Azure, Google Cloud, AWS).

  • Experience in network automation and orchestration tools, such as Terraform, Ansible, ARM, etc.

  • Experience with Linux and Windows operating systems and scripting languages, such as Bash, PowerShell, Python, etc.

  • Knowledge of container technologies including Docker and Kubernetes.

  • Knowledge of ITIL service management concepts for incident, problem, and change management.

  • The ability to communicate effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Financial services experience, specifically the banking industry a plus.

  • Education/Certification

  • B.S. degree in Information Technology, Information Security, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or related field or four years of equivalent experience in Information Technology or Security preferred.

  • One or more industry Certifications: CCNA, CCNP, Azure Admin Certifications, MCP, MCSE, CompTIA Sec+, A+, Net+.
