The anticipated salary range for this role is between $137,000.00 and $189,000.00. The specific salary offered to an applicant will be based on their individual qualifications, experiences, and an analysis of the current compensation paid in their geography and the market for similar roles at the time of hire. The role may also be eligible for an annual discretionary incentive award. In addition to cash compensation, SMBC offers a competitive portfolio of benefits to its employees.

Role Description

The Senior Business Analytics Developer will collaborate with various stakeholders to understand the business requirements and design and develop Cognos Planning Analytics applications to support the requirements. They will build, maintain & enhance the Cognos Planning Analytics applications for budgeting/forecasting and reporting, perform business process analysis, provide technical and functional support to end users.

Role Objectives:

  • Collaborate with various stakeholders to understand the business requirements and develop Cognos Planning Analytics applications.

  • Assume accountability for the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of reporting generated from these applications.

  • Experience in handling large datasets, relational databases, and distributed systems.

  • Ability to write complex SQLs to perform data analysis activities.

  • Experience using analytical skills, tools and techniques to investigate information and to draw conclusions.

  • Analyze data across disparate data sources to support requirements, identify data integration requirements to support the build.

  • Ability to perform data-lineage/traceability/reconciliation activities as required to support user inquiries.

  • Prepare runbooks, methods of procedures documents and present the same to business teams.

  • Ability to comprehend and define the scope of the project, initiate test plan, and execution of testing initiatives as it relates to the project as well as mitigate any associated risk as it relates to the testing event.

  • Ability to define a project plan and adhere to target dates.

  • Address production defects, if any, on time.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, finance, accounting, or information systems.

  • 5 - 7 years of Cognos TM1/Planning Analytics and Cognos BI experience.

  • Build/Modify TM1 Models, TI Processes, Rules and Feeders.

  • Build/Modify Cognos TM1/Planning Analytics active forms, reports.

  • Strong proficiency in SQL.

  • Strong analytical, design, debugging, problem solving and investigative skills.

  • Understanding of business requirements analysis, user acceptance testing and change management techniques.

  • Tableau / Power BI/ Alteryx experience preferred.

  • Ability to work independently or with a group.
