Role Description
SOFTWARE ENGINEER - DATA sought by SMBC Manubank in Los Angeles, CA.
JOB DUTIES: Play an essential role in building the Data and Analytics Platform for the Digital Bank Unit. Perform proof of concept on new cloud technologies and build a highly scalable data platform to support critical business functions, create rest APIs to expose data services for internal and external consumers. Specific duties include: 1) Build frameworks for data ingestion pipeline for a variety of data sources including batch and real-time. 2) Participate in technical decisions. 3) Design, develop, test, deploy and maintain data processing pipelines, highly efficient rest APIs. 4) Design and build scalable, reliable data infrastructure with paramount focus on data quality, security, and privacy techniques. 5) Effectively communicate complex technical concepts to a broad range of audience. 6) Gain understanding of business KPI and translate them to technical solutions. 7) Be involved in technical documentation providing detailed description of processes, frameworks, best practices and operational support. 8) Provide feedback to team members in code reviews. JOB REQUIREMENTS: Requires a Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or related field, plus three (3) years of software engineering or related development experience using Java, Python or Scala, including experience with build and deployments on application servers; and working with the open-source Java ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks.
Alternatively, will accept a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Computer Engineering or related field, plus five (5) years of software engineering or related development experience using Java, Python or Scala, including experience with build and deployments on application servers; and working with the open-source Java ecosystem and the libraries available for common tasks.
*Specific skills: Also requires experience or knowledge in the following: 1) Experience in data ingestion and data movement ETL pipelines; 2) Experience using Gradle and Maven; 3) Knowledge of data engineering, data modeling, data architecture and data warehouse technologies; 4) Experience in Java design principles, patterns, and restful API development; 5) Experience in Agile and Scrum development; 6) Experience in Spark, cloud technologies and distributed computing frameworks; and 7) Knowledge of IaaS, PaaS and SaaS

The salary for this position is $164,819 per year.
